In the south of Australia, the limestone cliffs of the Nullarbor plain meet the turquoise waters of the Southern Ocean. Located on the eastern end of the Great Australian Bight, the Head of the Bight is one of the very few places on Earth where it is possible to see Southern Right Whales in their aggregation grounds. Every winter, the whales meet here to mate and give birth to their calves. The females and babies stay in the bay for a few months until the calves are strong enough to begin their annual migration to their feeding grounds in Antarctica.
